The teachings and values of the Hethuska continue to live on in Native communities across the country. While the names, structures, and ceremonial practices may differ from tribe to tribe, many societies today carry forward the spirit of responsibility, generosity, service, and cultural leadership that define this tradition.
In some regions, these societies continue under the name Hethuska; in others, related warrior or leadership societies fulfill similar roles within their communities. Each group maintains its own protocols and teachings, shaped by the history and sovereignty of the people who steward them.
Across these communities, Hethuska‑related societies work to preserve songs, dances, and ceremonial responsibilities; support families and community members in times of need; and mentor younger generations. Their efforts strengthen cultural identity and ensure that the values shared by the Ponca and related peoples continue to guide and uplift future generations.
